George Arliss was innate within London as George Augustus Andrewes on 10 April, 1868 and died on 5 February 1946. He was the British actor, who began on the stage. Arliss began his film career using The Devil in 1921, followed by Disraeli. He remade Disraeli in 1929 (and won a Academy Award for Best Actor ), converting from the silent film star to the talkies.

He appeared within many historical films, like Alexander Hamilton, Voltaire and Cardinal Richelieu. He typically appeared using his married woman Florence Arliss and their son Leslie Arliss became a prolific producer-director for the Gainsborough Studios, with such films when Love Story (1944) and The Wicked Lady (1945).

Arliss published deuce volumes of autobiography: Up the Years from Bloomsbury (1927) and My Ten Years in the Studios (1940).
